Today is World Thank You Day. You probably know what it means...

We tend to express our gratitude to others when we feel that we owe them something, when we have gained from their efforts, and when we would like to share our feelings about them.

Sometimes demonstrating gratitude is an "obligation" or an "expectation," but sometimes it's just a spontaneous "thank you" to a person who has just brightened up our day without knowing it. In most situations, we express gratitude for sharing the warm feelings of the giver with us.

As lovely as it is to be wanting to communicate our appreciation and good vibes with others, we hardly ever really stop to consider what we get out of showing others our gratitude. It does a great deal for our brain and our mental health.

Today, we will talk about how meditation helps develop and cultivate our grateful side.

Meditation is a great way to start practicing daily gratitude; it allows us to experience more pleasant emotions, savor better experiences, enhance our health, cope with challenges and develop solid relationships.

Meditating is hard when you are a beginner. You may experience many intrusive thoughts that could actually make you feel anxious and just let your mind slip away from the actual exercise... If this happens to you, acknowledge your thought and just let it go, and focus on the gratitude you want to express.
