How do you stay healthy during the holidays?

Dinners, parties, gatherings, HOLIDAYS are around the corner! Whether it is Christmas, Hanukkah, or New Year’s, this period of the year is known to be rich in gatherings with food and beverages filling the table! How can one be healthy during the holidays?

For many years this is a question we all ask ourselves at this time of the year… Let’s break down this question by defining what healthy truly means. Healthy means taking care of both your physical and mental health, to be in your best conditions!
Forget the word diet, we're talking about health, not restriction. Nushape is here to give you some tips and tricks to optimize your  well-being during this month so that you can be in your best shape! It is important to focus on balance and listening to your body's needs!

No to deprivation, yes to enjoying!

You don’t necessarily have to restrict yourself from eating your best dish, but the internet helps a lot these days when it comes to finding healthier alternatives to any cravings you may have. You can use less butter while cooking, opt for light creams and olive oil, switch mayonnaise for a nice yogurt sauce you can make at home, and prioritize baking rather than frying!

No restriction, no binge

Your mindset is very important when it comes to trying to be healthy. We all have been at a dinner with delicious food on the table thinking “After this dinner, I’ll limit myself to salads and soups for the next few days!”. Sorry to burst your bubble, but this is not the best thinking process. This will make you binge during the dinner and eat until breathing becomes harder. Be gentle with yourself and allow yourself to have a nice dinner and wake up the following day eating healthy food that you enjoy! There are delicious healthy recipes that do not only involve lettuce and cucumber. You can make a good salad with foods that your body needs, with a nice light dressing!

Monitor your alcohol consumption and stay hydrated

Drinking excessively not only makes you more likely to adopt poor dietary practices, but research also demonstrates that over-consumption of alcohol can negatively affect your immune system. The same goes for excessive consumption of sugar, making those sweet cocktails a double threat to your overall health. As an alternative to alcohol, we recommend drinking mineral water with lime. Drinking lime water is an essential way to keep hydrated, and can also help with digestion and weight loss.  Limes are acidic and they help saliva break down food for better digestion You  can also freeze cucumbers or any other fruit and add them to your water! It's a great refreshing option that will also allow you to stay properly hydrated.

Sleep deprivation or oversleeping

Because of our active schedules during the holiday season, how can we balance our sleep schedule?  From late dinners and working the following day, or oversleeping because you are on vacation, getting enough quality sleep is going to be your strongest arm to face the holidays.Good rest regulates your mood, your energy levels and your ability to make good food decisions! Cravings generally tend to find part of their source in the lack of sleep, so consider sleeping 7-9h per day to be at your most optimal shape!

How to combine the holidays with the Lipo wrap.

Red light in 635nm is scientifically proven to create lipolysis in fat cells, draining toxins out of the cell in a uniquely safe and effective way. Studies show that 635nm waves decrease fat mass at twice the speed of exercise alone. The Lipo Wrap is especially helpful with stubborn fat areas where spot reduction is needed. This could be the key factor in unlocking fat loss and spot reduction, using 635nm waves for lipolysis and increasing the blood flow circulation to those fatty areas, a key factor in fat loss.

Especially when you eat a bit more, we recommend using the Lipo wrap in the morning for 30 minutes on your midsection and 30 minutes before you go to bed. This will help you with bloating and flush out those toxins!

To conclude, making wise food decisions, staying hydrated, limiting your alcohol consumption, following your sleep schedule, and using the Lipo wrap, will be your best friends to accompany you during the holidays and start the new year with a healthy mind and body!
